Extracts from reviews on "Lost in Floral Rain"

Lost in Floral Rain - A novel by Pushpa Suriyaarachchi

There are two adjectives one can use to describe Pushpa Suriyaarachchi’s Lost in Floral Rain: soothing and relaxing. The author has an easy style of narration that does not strain the nerves, compel one’s grey cells to grind, wrinkle one’s brow regarding its multiple and complicated meanings, memories “recollected in tranquility” but with a “certain coloring of the imagination.”

Professor Carmen Wickramagamage, Department of English, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.

The author traces the journey of a doctor in Australia back to her childhood in Sri Lanka, generating her story, akin to a skilful artist painting a vivid and colourful portrait on a large canvas. The story flows smoothly like a poem while the language is simple, yet colourful and elegant. The nostalgic memories emanating from the story are so pleasing that you can close your eyes and become part of the story in an instant.

Associate Professor Udaya Seneviratne, Consultant Neurologist, Melbourne, Australia.

A captivating and inspiring book which has maturely investigated a growing young girl’s life and transformed this information into a narrative using simple but attractive language. It is a relaxing book to the mature, critical mind.

Dr Piumali Guanwardene, Consultant Geriatrician and General Physician, Sydney, Australia.
